Russian Team Analysis for FIFA World cup 2018


Being the host country, Russia was automatically qualified for the FIFA tournament 2018 where the team is playing a bunch of friendly matches on the other hand their rival teams were busy with competition. It was a great disappointment for the Confederations Cup, with Russia who won only one game in the group as it failed to reach the semi-finals. The Russian National Football Team was given the nickname of Sbornaya and the team got the 66thposition in the FIFA Rankings. The recent coach for the team is Stanislav Cherchesov.

There was an absence of the key personnel which is a series setback for Russian team, including the defenders Victor Vasin and Georgi Dzhikiya, and Aleksandr Kokorin from the forwards all ruled out of the battle after suffering some injuries. Coach who doesn’t have a single experience of centre-back to call on was Cherchesov as he took over as coach from Leonid Slutsky after Euro 2016.

The retirements of Sergei Ignashevich and Vasily Berezutskyand Aleksey Berezutsky left abandoned, because of the injuries to Vasin and Dzhikiya. The team has granted three goals in each of its last three knockups, against France, Brazil and Spain. Though, the draught has been kind and there could be a way out of a group including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay.

Alan Dzagoev is a key to Russia’s plans, something that was represents when Denis Glushakov was left out of the 28-member preambling squad. A dexterous play-maker, Dzagoev is expected to play in the middle of midfield in a 5-3-2, setting up Smolov and Miranchuk.
